For example, for a pirate theme, you can play pin the parrot on the pirate. A piñata has the same flexibility, and it is a great way to burn off some excess energy. You can choose from hundreds of different kinds of piñatas, and you can stuff it with candy that fits your theme, like chocolate coins for the pirate theme. When you are setting up a piñata you might want to set it up so that an adult can raise or lower it as the blindfolded child swings at it. This way you can let each child have a turn before they break the piñata open.

Limbo and musical chairs are fun because you can incorporate all sorts of fun music. While limbo has its own song, you can use any song that you want to use. You can change the game up some to and make the children play in pairs, with their eyes closed, or with skates. You can make musical chairs more interesting by giving out prizes to the first, second and third place winners. Something simple like candy is a good idea.

Another fun game for older kids is called “Who Am I?” In this game you take index cards and write out the names of famous people, cartoon characters, well known movies, or anything else you can think of putting on the cards. You tape one card on the back of each kid, and you can play too. The object of the game is to try to figure out what name is on your card, but no one can say the name on your card. They have to describe the person or the movie without saying the name, and you have to guess who or what it is. This game fits into any theme. For example, if you are having a princess party, you can use the names of different movie princesses.
