A Hoe-Down Hullaballoo

A barnyard party or hoe-down is a great party theme for two to four year olds. This is a very easy, cute party theme. First, you can make it a dress up party for your young guests. Tell them to wear blue jeans or overalls, button down shirts, and cowboy hats. You can also buy inexpensive cowboy hats at most costume or party stores. You can also go to the fabric store and get a few yards of red or blue bandana fabric, and you can cut it up so that each boy and girl can have their own cowboy or cowgirl bandana.

You can also decorate your backyard with hay bales and lights to create a real hoe down atmosphere. You can play country music so that the kids can line dance and do-se-do. You can take the party to a local farm or barn so that they can see and learn about the animals that you normally find on a farm. If you do not have a farm close by, most zoos generally have a petting zoo with barnyard animals.

For the food, you can make a snack called haystacks. There are a couple of different versions, but all the recipes generally include a crunchy element, like pretzels or chips, and a sweet element like chocolate or butterscotch. You melt the chocolate (or whatever you choose to use) and pour it over small piles of pretzels. You then put it in the fridge so that all the little haystacks harden. You can also make or buy a barnyard themed cake.

A Sesame Street Party

Sesame Street is a childhood favorite of many people, and it is another great theme for a toddler birthday party. This is a wonderfully easy party to create for your child. Most party stores (or online stores) will carry Sesame Street themed party supplies. You can buy plates, cups, napkins and decorating supplies that feature all your favorite characters such as Elmo, Bert, Ernie and Big Bird. You can even buy Sesame Street invitations.

You can also make a Sesame Street cake with all the characters. If you are talented at frosting cakes, you can draw the characters on the cake or you can buy plastic figurines to set on top of the cake. For game time, the children can play pin the tail on Big Bird, and you can play episodes of Sesame Street in the background.
