The only holidays that you might not want to use are holidays that are already associated with gift giving, such as Christmas or Hanukkah. Other holidays, like Valentine's Day, Halloween, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Mardi Gras, or Thanksgiving Day are all fun holiday themes. When you are planning food for one of these parties, you should consider making cupcakes because they are so easy and fun to make. Cupcakes can be even more fun than a cake because your child (or children) can help you make them.

With a holiday themed party, you can decorate the cupcakes accordingly. For example, for a Halloween party, you can make little pumpkin cupcakes or you can put Halloween candy on them. Instead of buying a bunch of different icings, you should just buy a large jar of white icing and some food coloring. Food coloring will last longer than icing, and you can reuse it. All you need is to mix in a few drops of food coloring into the white icing, and you can mix up whatever color you want.

You can even make mini cupcakes. All you need is a mini muffin pan, and you can make tiny cupcakes. These are fun by themselves, but you can also use them when you are making a cupcake cake. To make a cupcake cake, all you have to do is set the cupcakes into whatever design you want. You can either ice them before making your design or after. Just think if you are doing a St. Patrick's Day party, you can make a giant shamrock out of cupcakes. If you use normal sized cupcakes and mini cupcakes, you can make even more complicated and cute designs.
